Workshop by CISCO & NIIT
Date: Saturday, 14th January 2025
Instructors: Ms. Bhawna and Mr. Mohit
Rahab Centre for Hope, in collaboration with CISCO and NIIT, conducted a comprehensive Cyber Security Awareness session focused on equipping participants with essential knowledge about online safety, data protection, and secure digital practices in today’s increasingly connected world.
Program Overview
As digital technology becomes integral to daily life, education, and employment, understanding cyber security has never been more critical. This specialized session addressed the rising challenges of cyber threats in the modern digital era while providing practical, actionable insights to help participants mitigate these risks effectively.
Key Topics Covered
The comprehensive curriculum included:
Understanding Cyber Threats: Participants learned to identify common cyber threats including phishing attacks, ransomware, malware, data breaches, and identity theft. Through real-world examples, they gained insight into how these threats manifest and target vulnerable users.
Data Protection Strategies: The session emphasized techniques for protecting personal and institutional data, including strong password creation, two-factor authentication, secure browsing practices, and recognizing suspicious online activity.
Ethical Digital Citizenship: Instructors highlighted the ethical aspects of cyber activities, discussing digital responsibility, respecting privacy, understanding digital footprints, and the legal implications of cyber misconduct.
Through discussions, demonstrations, and Q&A sessions, participants engaged actively with the material, asking questions about their specific concerns and receiving personalized guidance from expert instructors Ms. Bhawna and Mr. Mohit.
Impact and Significance
This initiative reflects Rahab Centre for Hope’s commitment to comprehensive digital empowerment. As our beneficiaries gain digital literacy skills through various programs, equipping them with cyber security knowledge ensures they can navigate the digital world safely and confidently. This protection is especially crucial for vulnerable populations who may be targets for online exploitation or fraud.
We extend gratitude to CISCO, NIIT, and instructors Ms. Bhawna and Mr. Mohit for their expertise and dedication in delivering this vital program, empowering our community with the skills necessary for secure digital participation.
Rahab Centre for Hope’s ASHA Program reached a significant milestone with the launch of two transformative initiatives: the Digital Literacy Program and the Smart Saving Bank. These programs represent our continued commitment to empowering women and adolescent girls through comprehensive education and skill development that prepares them for success in today’s digital economy.
Digital Literacy Program Launch
The Digital Literacy Program addresses the critical need for technology skills in the modern world. This comprehensive initiative equips our beneficiaries with essential computer skills, including basic software applications, internet navigation, and digital communication tools. Beyond technical competencies, the program emphasizes online safety awareness, teaching participants how to protect themselves from cyber threats, recognize online scams, and maintain digital privacy.
A key component focuses on digital financial knowledge, introducing participants to online banking, digital payment systems, and e-commerce platforms. These skills enable our beneficiaries to navigate today’s technology-driven world with confidence, independence, and security—opening doors to educational opportunities, employment prospects, and financial services previously out of reach.
Smart Saving Bank Inauguration
The Smart Saving Bank initiative cultivates healthy financial habits from an early age. Through this innovative program, ASHA participants learn the fundamental value of saving money, financial planning, budgeting techniques, and responsible money management. Each participant received their own passbook, making the concept of saving tangible and personal.
This hands-on approach to financial literacy teaches practical skills including setting savings goals, tracking expenses, understanding interest, and making informed financial decisions. By instilling these habits early, we’re paving the way toward self-reliance, economic empowerment, and long-term financial security.
Celebrating Progress
The inauguration event brought together staff, beneficiaries, and supporters in an atmosphere of enthusiasm and hope. Participants expressed excitement about gaining new skills that will help them build smarter, more secure, and self-sufficient futures. These initiatives exemplify Rahab Centre for Hope’s holistic approach to empowerment—addressing not just immediate needs, but equipping individuals with the knowledge and tools necessary for sustainable independence and dignity.
On Friday, 14th November 2025, Rahab Centre for Hope celebrated Children’s Day with a vibrant and purposeful program that combined festive celebration with meaningful social awareness. The event showcased the talents, creativity, and growing consciousness of our children while addressing critical social issues through street theatre.
Children’s Day holds special significance at Rahab Centre for Hope as we recognize and celebrate the potential, resilience, and growth of the children in our care. This year’s celebration went beyond traditional festivities to empower our children as agents of social change, enabling them to use their voices and creativity to raise awareness about pressing issues affecting youth.
Nukkad Naatak on Mobile Addiction
The highlight of the celebration was a powerful street theatre performance (Nukkad Naatak) on mobile addiction and its consequences. Our children took to the streets to perform an impactful dramatization that illustrated:
The Allure of Mobile Devices: The performance depicted how mobile phones and digital devices capture youth attention, often leading to excessive screen time and addiction.
Real-Life Consequences: Through engaging dialogue and dramatic scenes, the children highlighted the serious impacts of mobile addiction including academic decline, social isolation, sleep deprivation, mental health challenges, and weakened family relationships.
Path to Awareness: The performance concluded with messages promoting healthy digital habits, balanced technology use, and the importance of outdoor activities, face-to-face relationships, and mental well-being.
This Nukkad Naatak represented more than entertainment—it demonstrated how our children have internalized important social lessons and are eager to share this knowledge with their communities. By performing on the streets, they reached broader audiences including parents, other youth, and community members who might not access traditional health education channels.
The experience built confidence in our children, allowing them to express themselves creatively while contributing meaningfully to community awareness. It exemplified the holistic development approach at Rahab Centre for Hope, where education combines academic learning with social consciousness and civic responsibility.
Following the energetic street performance, the entire group gathered to share snacks and celebrate together as one community. This moment of joy and togetherness reinforced the bonds between children, staff, and volunteers, creating warm memories while acknowledging each child’s unique contribution to the program.
This Children’s Day celebration embodied Rahab Centre for Hope’s commitment to raising informed, engaged, and socially conscious youth. Rather than passive recipients of services, our children are becoming active participants in community health and awareness initiatives. This empowerment—allowing children to use their voices, creativity, and energy for positive social change—is a powerful indicator of their healing, growth, and developing leadership potential.
On Friday, 14th November 2025, Rahab Centre for Hope organized a comprehensive World Diabetes Day Awareness Program in recognition of this crucial global health observance. The two-hour program, held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Qutab Vihar Phase 1 in the South West district of New Delhi, reached 34 community members with essential health screening, education, and support.
Blood Pressure Measurement: Specialized attention was given to measuring blood pressure among elderly participants and women, recognizing that hypertension and diabetes often coexist as interconnected health challenges.
The overwhelming participation and positive response from the community highlighted the critical need for accessible health services in underserved neighborhoods. Many participants expressed gratitude for receiving free medical screening at their doorstep, as access to such services often presents financial and logistical barriers for vulnerable populations.
On 26th November 2025, Rahab Centre for Hope celebrated a significant milestone in its women empowerment journey with the formation of a new Self-Help Group (SHG) comprising 16 women from underserved communities. This initiative represents a powerful step toward financial inclusion, collective empowerment, and sustainable community development.
This name beautifully encapsulates the group’s foundational spirit: women extending hands to lift each other, supporting neighbors in need, and building community through direct mutual assistance. It reflects both their commitment to collective welfare and their recognition that empowerment is fundamentally relational and interdependent.
Building a Collective Fund: The pooled savings create a common resource that the group can access for emergency support, skill development investments, or income-generating activities.
Demonstrating Financial Discipline: Regular contributions instill habits of saving, budgeting, and financial responsibility among members.
Creating Shared Ownership: Each woman’s contribution creates genuine ownership of the group’s mission and success.
Establishing Trust and Accountability: The transparent collection and management of funds builds trust among members and demonstrates the group’s commitment to financial integrity.
Economic Empowerment: Women gain access to credit, financial services, and income-generating opportunities that were previously unavailable to them.
Social Empowerment: The group provides a supportive community where women can share experiences, challenges, and solutions, reducing isolation and building collective strength.
Political Empowerment: Through collective organization and democratic decision-making, women develop agency, confidence, and the ability to advocate for their needs and rights.
Psychological Empowerment: Membership in a supportive group builds self-esteem, confidence, and sense of possibility among women who may have internalized limiting beliefs about their potential.
On December 11, 2025, Rahab Centre for Hope received a prestigious honour from the Kenyan High Commission in New Delhi. We were graciously invited by H.E. Amb. Peter Munyiri and Mrs. Jane Munyiri to recognize our dedicated efforts in the rehabilitation and successful repatriation of a number of Kenyan women over the past few years.
This recognition stands as a testament to our unwavering commitment to combating human trafficking and restoring dignity to survivors. To date, Rahab Centre for Hope has successfully rehabilitated a number of 42 internationally trafficked women hailing from eight different countries.
We are deeply grateful to His Excellency and Mrs. Munyiri for this acknowledgement. It strengthens our resolve to continue being a sanctuary for those in need, ensuring that every woman, regardless of nationality, finds her way back to safety, home, and hope.
